Welcome to Federal Prison!!!!
(We are going to help you here; Unlike the Feds that are sending you here!)
(Taken at FCI Ashland KY)
Back when times were better and my was pregnant with my my son, she had a book titled "What to Expect When You are Expecting". It answered so many questions about pregnancy that it was incredible. She looked at it all the time and constantly refered to it. She had never been through a pregnancy before and had an amazing number of questions.
When I got out of prison, I thought there were other people like me (generally honest, made one mistake and paid for it many times over) who might need some help dealing with the system. So I wrote this book.
If there is a chance you might be going to Federal Prison in the future, we have the book for you. It is the only CURRENT guide to life in Federal Prison on the market. We just did an update on it in the middle of August 2008. It covers everything you would want to know about; If you knew what questions to ask. This is a unique book that will actually make a difference in your life.
We call it “The Ultimate Guide to Life Inside (and after) Federal Prison”. We like to think of it as “Prison for Idiots” just like those yellow books that have taken over bookstores. It’s a huge book with 250 8 ½”X 11” pages of single spaced text (not some small format book with a fraction of the contents) and 30 Appendixes (150 pages or so). It weighs over 2 pounds and I actually ship it in a cardboard mailer to protect it (you spent a good deal of money on it) from the Post Office. Unlike others I don't think that an eBook is appropriate since when do you want to pay $$$ for a "download" that you can "print" and burn up who knows how much ink (more $$) doing it to save someone else the cost of doing it....
It is constantly updated and you are not spending your money for a book that is based on information that is years old. Everyone who prints bound copies of books has to run several hundred copies. Its amazing how long it takes to sell that many. By the time they are through the first printing, everything in it will be old history. Read a sample chapter, most raise more questions than they answer because they don't go into nearly enough detail. Don't buy a $75 book that you can read in an hour, you'll spend some time reading this and then read it another time or two.
Be wary of anything where they say they have information on "Federal Boot Camps", "Federal Probation", or smoking in Federal Prisons. Boot Camps and smoking are history, probation is long gone, but a constant rumor that it will return. The latest thing is having information on the "Second Chance Act", yup, it passed. Just for for the record, the Second Chance Act doesn't apply to or help too many people. See the page on this site about it. So be careful of what you buy.
There is no other book like it anywhere. There are a lot of “how to file lawsuits” or "legal forms for inmates" types of books on the market. We have also reviewed a lot of books that were so old that they were virtually worthless, none of which gave more than a few pages to the important subject of HOW TO SURVIVE IN PRISON. A lot of people have read it, from regular criminals to Congressmen. Everyone seems to like it, and like it a lot. It gives you the experience you can only get by going to prison. The author did his research about life in Federal Prison from the inside, when he was in Federal Prison. He also wrote most of the book there. Getting it out of there was another story.
It’s written in a kind of light hearted style that makes it bearable to read and easy to understand. There are a lot of things that your lawyer can’t tell you, because he simply doesn’t know, doesn’t have the time to find out and doesn’t care to spend his time learning. Maybe he hasn’t had the Federal Prison experience yet. When you think about the peace of mind you are going to get here, you'll wonder why you didn't pay the lawyer a few bucks less..........
The Ultimate Guide spends a lot of time answering every question you could think of, as well as many you can’t even imagine to ask. It was written by a former inmate and lawyer as a textbook for new inmates. Check out the "Why you need this" page above. That hardly scratches the suface of what is in here. The information here could very well make your life more bearable or help keep you safe.
Take a look at the table of contents we have on this site. The Appendix is a collection of documents that were smuggled out of Federal Prison, including an A&O Manual, Halfway House Manuals, Commissary Lists, weekly menus, as well as a lot of the forms you and the family are going to see in the future.
For the price of a night at decent hotel, you can get something that will let you sleep for the time you have left before you leave for your time inside. It represents a real VALUE in that you get much more than you pay for. If you take a minute and think about what this experience with the justice system has cost you, this is minor and is something that will actually help you.
Once you get the book, you also have access to the author who will answer about any question you have that isn't covered here (and there aren't too many). This helps him keep current with issues you may have. Also tell your lawyer about us, maybe he'll read a copy and learn something.
Have a really good day (while you are out here with us) and get ready to have some acceptable days in Prison (there are no really good days in Prison). I know how you feel and I can make you feel a lot better.

For those who wonder.... Federal Prison for men and women both use the same type of rules. This manual applies to either one.
